My name is Olga Kalganova and I am HCPC Registered Dietitian and Nutritionist, Founder of Colgan Nutrition. At Colgan Nutrition I aim to make evidence-based dietetic expertise available to individual patients, companies and population groups.
I graduated from King’s College London with BSc in Nutrition & Dietetics – one of the world’s leading medical research centres. I went through thorough clinical training as a Dietitian at the Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust and King’s College London Hospital. Since graduation, I have worked in various roles as a Weight Management Dietitian and Specialist Diabetes Dietitian within NHS and private sector.
I continue to work for NHS within Adult Weight Management Services and run my private dietetic practice Colgan Nutrition.
What is a Dietitian?
Dietitians are qualified and regulated health professionals that assess, diagnose and treat dietary and nutritional problems at an individual and wider public-health level. They use the most up-to-date public health and scientific research on food, health and disease which they translate into practical guidance to enable people to make appropriate lifestyle and food choices. They work in the NHS hospitals and in private clinics. They work with healthy and sick people in a variety of settings. They can work in the food industry, workplace, catering, education, sport and the media.
Dietitians often work as integral members of multi-disciplinary teams and can treat complex clinical conditions such as diabetes, food allergy and intolerance, IBS syndrome, eating disorders, chronic fatigue, malnutrition, kidney failure and bowel disorders.
The title ‘dietitian’ is the only food and nutrition title that is protected by law. Only those registered with the statutory regulator, the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) can use the title Dietitian in the UK.
The minimum requirement to become a dietitian is a BSc Hons in Dietetics, or a related science degree with a postgraduate diploma or higher degree in Dietetics. Dietetic courses are structured to include biochemistry, physiology, applied sciences and research methods that underpin nutrition and dietetics. These are complemented by social and behavioural sciences and the theories of communication to support the development of skills required for professional dietetic practice.

Well-balanced nutrition is a foundation of health. I work with patients to develop individually personalised nutrition plans to improve health outcomes.
I offer nutritional services for patients on a remote basis (one-to-one video/telephone consultations), allowing you to have your appointment in the comfort of your own home. This allows patients to access private dietitian service without prolonged wait. I offer nutritional advice to improve management of complex health conditions.
